I thought I would appeal to all the birders out there, who might be at a loose end and looking for some fun on Saturday. The Cornell Lab and ebird are doing a Global Birding Day this Saturday 8th May. The aim is to collect as much data as possible on what birds are seen across the world – and we all know that good research underpins good conservation.
You do not have to be professional twitchers, backyard birders are just as important on a day like this. You can be part of a team with friends or do it yourself. If you are allowed to travel to good birding places, that is great, but if you are restricted to your local area and on foot for an hour outside, then that is valuable data as well. Go online and sign in, download the ebird app and you are good to go
